I missed last Friday's loom report.... I worked at Quilt Harbor that day and just didn't get the chance to report in.
I've started a new pair of socks....
You can head on over to Judy's to see what other have On the Needles.....
I've started a new pair of socks....
I'm really loving this yarn! The colors are so fresh, clear and bright! I was looking at the label to see the name of the color and you never guess what I found... This yarn was designed by Kaffe Fassett!!! No wonder I love it :-)
I did finish the other pair of socks...
My experiment to see if I could get one pair of socks from one ball of striped yarn by adding a contrasting heel and toe worked! I even have some yarn left over. Quite a bit actually.
The only problem I had is where I joined the solid yarn for the toe. I got a horribly big knot when I finish the toe off.... for me it's not really a problem (except I don't like the way it looks) cause my feet are so skinny I don't feel it in the toe of my shoes.
I'm trying to figure out a better way to attach the second color so I don't get that knot. The toe second sock came out better... but the seam is not straight.
You might like this method of joining your yarn.

Those are so cool! Do you knit the heel on the loom, or do you do an afterthought heel once the tube is knit?
ReplyDeleteGreat socks! I love Regia yarn also, especially the Kaffe Fassett colors.
ReplyDeleteI made socks in that same Kaffe Fassett yarn and I really love them. Love seeing sock in progress on the loom.
ReplyDeleteCool socks! I just came across 2 skeins of those Kaffe ones in my stash. It sure knits up pretty. Happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteOK - Socks are great - I have never heard of a sock loom... I also am interested in how you turned the heel.
