More Bowl Cozies

More  bowl cozies... LOL! 

The first one I read the pattern wrong so the bottom was smaller than it supposed to be. Soo...  I made this one the "correct" size. I think I like the smaller size better! 

I also made the top part smaller... on both of them. (My bowls are not that deep.) If I made it as big as the pattern says it would be a hat!

I started out with the orange/ peach combination... I almost had the second half of the bottom done when I left it by my chair while I ran some errands.  When I got home... somebody had eaten it and the peach yarn.  I guess he didn't like that color! I didn't have enough yarn left to finish in that color combination and I didn't want to let that bottom go to waste.

Two  days in a row I've used one of my new bowl cozies... What's better than a hot bowl of soup on a cold winter day?!

Two things I found with the cozies. I do like the taller sides of this one... the bigger one. Easier to hold on to. But, I like the smaller bowl part of the smaller cozy. It holds the bowl more securely. 

Bowl cozy number 3... same size base as the 1st one but much bigger sides that will make it easier to hold on to! These are almost as much fun to make as baskets!

Ohhh... when you turn it upside down it looks like a hat!

Bowl Cozy

I make soup or chili all the time so there is one or the other for lunches... I've been wanting to make a bowl cozy for heating up my lunch in the microwave for some time now. For me to find the time to sit and sew is sometimes impossible. LOL! But it's easy for me to crochet in the evening while "watching" TV... so I crochet a bowl cozy!

 I love it! I used two strands of cotton yarn. My favorite Peaches & Creme Fiesta (which has been discontinued and I'm not happy about!) And a bright lime green.

I tried a new edge finish on my baskets. I think I like it!

This little one got a little wonky... LOL!

Recycled T-Shirts

I tried my hand at another basket made from recycled t-shirt... This one came out a lot better than the 1st! It's made using a different stitch than the other baskets... I re8like the pattern it makes! Especially on the bottom. The only thing is the t-shirt fabric breaks when trying to tighten up the hole in the center. 

Working with the recycled fabric is not easy. It's actually pretty hard on my hands. My thumb is quite sore this morning.... soooooo, I don't know if I'll be making more or not. 

T-shirt Yarn

Hahahaha!!! I tried making a basket out of old t-shirts I cut into strips years ago. I had made a rug from them at the time, but it came apart the 1st time I washed it. I unraveled it thinking I'd try again.

I've seen the cutest baskets made out of t-shirt yarn. I thought,  why buy yarn made from t-shirt fabric when I have all this already cut into strips and knotted together. Isn't that the idea behind upcycling?

So my basket is misshapen and lumpy and bumpy from all the seams and knots.

Yep... I'm still making baskets! LOL!!! Thinking of putting a couple up for sale to see what happens.

I'm still busy making baskets in the evenings while watching tv. I can't just sit and watch tv...  unless it's something I really need to pay attention to. (Like Poldark!) If I don't keep my hands busy... I fall asleep! Then when I go to bed I can't sleep! LOL!!!

Crocheting baskets is the perfect busy work for me in the evenings!

Baskets

I finished another basket last night for my retro pink bathroom... lol! This one is a bit bigger than the other two. I was going to make it even bigger, but I started out with my base too big. I pulled out about 4 rounds. I like this much better!

I finished this little basket... I decided to keep it shallow. Perfect for my bracelets and things in my retro pink bathroom. LOL!!!

I think I'll make several more to hold more "stuff" on my counter! LOL

I'm suppose to be using up my left over dishcloth yarn... not buying more! I saw these yesterday and couldn't resist! LOL! 

I thought they would make a wonderful combination... I couldn't wait to start a new basket. I'm using one strand of each. I love it!!!

This one I'm keeping!

Coaster Set

I finished my first Coaster Set last night....

I know 5 is an odd number but it's really an odd number. My plan was 6 coasters. I not sure another one will fit in the little basket...

I guess the only way to find out is to make one more!  LOL!!!

More Baskets

These little baskets are really addictive... LOL

I made another little mini me basket. Once that was done I started a cute little basket out of cotton yarn. I have a whole drawer full of leftover cotton yarn from making dishcloths. I thought this was a great way to use it up!

I made a second one with more leftovers. This one is a little smaller and fits inside the bigger one.

I got to thinking that these little baskets with matching coasters inside would make great Christmas gifts... so along came another basket! LOL!!! 

The first two coasters I made I made them a round smaller than the bottom of the basket. Then I decided they were too small and made one bigger.

It's the same size as the bottom.  I think it fits much better!

Tonight I'll make a smaller basket to fit the smaller coasters... and more coasters! LOL!!!

Crochet Basket

A couple weeks ago I showed you the start of my new crochet basket here. Well.... it's Done! I absolutely love how it turned out!!!

LOL!!! The best lighting in our house for pictures is in the laundry room on top of the washer!

This basket used 1 strand each of 3 different variegated yarns. When you see them like this they don't look like they would blend together to make such a lovely combination of colors...

The two skeins on the right I purchased at our local Walmart. About a week ago I started getting low on them so I went back to Walmart to buy two more skeins. They were out! What??? So I went on line looking to order them. Every where I looked it was going to be a couple weeks before they were even shipped... that wasn't going to work for me! LOL I wanted them now! LOL!!! I then found them on Ebay with 2-day shipping... so I ordered them. When I got my package in the mail... it was not my yarn. It was a totally different brand not even close to the correct colors. I contacted the seller... she sent my yarn to the person that ordered what I received and visa versa. At first I was upset, but she went above and beyond to correct her mistake. Kudos to her!!!

I love all the colors swirling together!
