Joining strips for rag rug

I was asked by Kristin how I joined my strips for my rag rug. Since picture are worth a 1000 words (VBG)... here it goes.

First I cut a slit into the ends of the strips to be joined.



Then pull one strip through the slit on the other strip.



Pull second strip through opposite slit.




Pull tight, but not too tight.... Voila! Your ready crochet.
