Ribbons at the Fair

Yesterday we went to our local county fair.  Really enjoy seeing all the kids with their animals.  The hubster likes to quiz the kids about what's special about the animals they raised.  It's really quite fun!

After talking to a few kids about their pigs we decided it was time to check out the quilts...  I was delighted to see that my customer, Sharon Peterson, received a blue ribbon on both the quilts I quilted for her.

Sorry that the pictures aren't great...  You can see more pix of this quilt here.

Her Cattails quilt also had a blue ribbon on it...

Then I noticed my quilt, Just Plain Crazy, at a ribbon on it.  Award of Merit!  Not sure what that means but it's a big fancy ribbon!!!

I had also entered my Bubbles quilt...  we had walked all around the quilts hanging and I didn't see it anywhere.  I was starting to get a little worried that my quilt was missing....  Then I notice a glass cabinet...  Yay!  My quilt was in the cabinet.  I don't really understand while they fold the small quilts and put them in a cabinet where people can't see them...  but I guess it's ok since my Bubbles had a few ribbons on it!  One blue ribbon, Best in Category, and a big fancy Second Place (I believe that's for all the quilts entered, but not sure)

  2. Congratulations on all the quilts! Our fair here in Orange County, CA, didn't have as many quilts as in the past. It was the main reason I wanted to go to the fair, to see the quilts. I wanted to see what took ribbons and what didn't. I wanted to see if my meager little quilts would stand up to "Fair quilts". Well, I really think my quilts might....but its sad when the "home arts" such as quilting and canning etc no longer draw people like they used to.
    Congratulations again! Keep it up!
