Bali Wedding Star Block

I uploaded a new video to YouTube... Same Bali Wedding Star quilt... This shows how I quilted the blocks with the 15" arc from Linda Hrcka, The Quilted Pineapple, along with freemotion designs. I'm using DecoBob 80wt thread in a light grey color from WonderFil.

Doodles

It seems like every quilt show there is that one time of day that growd this out... the vendor mall gets a little. Late afternoon around 3:30 4pm. Never fails. Houston Quilt Festival is no exception.

When it gets slow like that... I doodle.

My machine is my pencil...

Today was blacklight doodles!

New Video

I did a short video of the center motif on the Drunkard's Path quilt I posted about here and here...

It's no secret by now that I love doing my simple Feather Vine in many shapes. It is the perfect design for this fun Drunkard's Path quilt.

In this video I'm quilting my Feather Vine in the large white space made by the Drunkard's Path. With a few registration lines I used the seam lines for my spine.

Ta Done

I do not know the name of this pattern... but I love it and now I want to make one!  LOL!!!

I've been quilting for this customer for close to 20 years. She always says... just make it pretty! LOL

Rainbow thread on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin. Batting is W&W. Feather Vine in the border with swirls in the small border. Heavy Metal in the Flying Geese, Feather Vine in the Pinwheels and swirls for the background.

I think it looks really good on my bed!

You can see how I quilted the Feather Vine in the triangles in this post

I had to do my favorite Feather Vine border.... had to!!! LOL

And Heavy Metal in the flying geese!

You can watch how I quilt this Heavy Metal design here.

Heavy Metal Flying Geese

This is my favorite design to quilt in Flying Geese...

I did a short video the other day... this was before I figured out that I should move my handlebars to get a better view!  LOL!!!

You can purchase my Heavy Metal workbook here.

Videos

A while back I had gotten a handlebar mount to use with my phone on my A1 Quilting Machine. I've been playing with it trying to find the right angle for making videos while I quilt....

There's several obstacles I'm running into. First is my lights. My lights on my machine are directly under my handle bars and are blocking the area where I'd really like to place the mount.

Second is I can't rotate the camera to get a landscape profile. This means it's taking a tall skinny video which means anyone trying to watch it on their phone is having harder time seeing.

Third is there are too many joints in the mount. This creates more camera wobble. When I quilt a little faster the camera wobbles...

Anyway, here's a new video I did last week. The angle is not right. I will try again soon!

I have my eye on a different style of mount... It's a little more than what I want to spend but it may be worth it in the long run!

TaDone... One Of My Own

I took a break and quilted on of my own quilts. This is a quilt I started several years ago.... I get everything done except the border and stop. I have no idea why I do this. Crazy!

The pattern is called Lightening Strikes Twice .It uses 5" charm squares to make the chevron design....

I decided it was time to get it out and finish it!

Ten Inch Borders

Does anyone else get excited about 10" borders? The only problem is my thread color matches the fabric exactly and I'm having a really difficult time seeing where I'm going.  I usually turn off all the lights and with my 2 picture windows I get enough light and shadow so I can see.  Not today...

Ta Done

This is finally done... 10 thread changes! Threads used InvisiFil in both black and white. For the colors some are Glide and some Magnifico... depending on which matches best. Pattern is Rainbow Hosta by Judy Niemeyer. Quilting is all freehand...  what I thought would take me a couple days took me a week!

I had a hard time getting a good picture of this quilt...

Getting There

Between working at Quilt Harbor 2 days a week and updating machines for A1 Quilting Machines owners some weeks I don't get a lot of time to quilt. That's ok... I love what I do! I love helping A1 owners keep their machines up to date with state of the art precision.

Anyway, this quilt is getting there... not much left to go.

Ta Done

I finished this last week....  absolutely love the way it turned out!!! This quilt was pieced by one of my best customers. I always enjoy working on her quilts. Her colors and fabric choices are wonderful. I believe the pattern is Sidelights...

I did the blocks with my Quilt Gallery computerized system...

A did ruler work with freemotion quilting in the sashing and small gold border...

In the center I outlined the print fabric and add a background fill in the green...

I used the channel locks on the Quilt Gallery to do the bead board quilting in the purple border...

Sometimes I like the back the best.... :-)

On the Machine

I took my quilt off the frame to work on a few customer quilts....  I do believe this is turning out out wonderfully!

I'm using a purple Glide thread in the border and blocks, a copper Glide thread in the small border and sashing, and a green Invisifil in the panel and green sashing.....   Hobbs 80/20 batting.  The quilting is a combination of freehand, rulers and computer work.

On My Machine

This is the first time I've quilted in month!  I had sinus surgery on December 11th....  When my Dr said it would take at least a month before I started to feel better he wasn't kidding!

Now I need a nap!
