On the Needles (Loom)

It's that day again...   and it looks like I may have missed a week or two!  Last Friday we were camping...  no internet and barely any cell service if you stood on one foot in the middle of the field facing northeast.

Remember this sock?  I did get some done on my second sock while camping...  :-)

I probably could of gotten it done last night while watching TV, but it was thundering and lightening...  and that makes me really nervous!

With it being a gray and rainy day I was having a hard time getting the colors to photograph...  but I did get one good one of the colors :-)

I always get questions about turning the heel, so here's the youtube that shows how it's done.

As always, don't forget to go see what everyone is doing over at Judy's.

On the Needles.... LOOM

First I want to thank everyone who commented last week!!!  WOW!  I was a little surprised that my socks got so many comments...  that was really nice.  Thank you!  I will respond to everyone when I'm not short on time...

So what's on my loom?   Nothing!  hahaha   I finished my sock from last week and am anxiously waiting to start it's mate...

Take a peek over at Judy's to see what others got going on their needles....  some beautiful knitting going on!

On the Needles (LOOM)

I missed last Friday's loom report....  I worked at Quilt Harbor that day and just didn't get the chance to report in.

I've started a new pair of socks....

I'm really loving this yarn! The colors are so fresh, clear and bright!  I was looking at the label to see the name of the color and you never guess what I found...   This yarn was designed by Kaffe Fassett!!!  No wonder I love it :-)

I did finish the other pair of socks...

My experiment to see if I could get one pair of socks from one ball of striped yarn by adding a contrasting heel and toe worked!  I even have some yarn left over.  Quite a bit actually.

The only problem I had is where I joined the solid yarn for the toe.  I got a horribly big knot when I finish the toe off....   for me it's not really a problem (except I don't like the way it looks) cause my feet are so skinny I don't feel it in the toe of my shoes.

I'm trying to figure out a better way to attach the second color so I don't get that knot.  The toe second sock came out better... but the seam is not straight.

You can head on over to Judy's to see what other have On the Needles.....

KB Sock Loom

I've had quite a few inquiries about how I make socks on a loom so I thought I would post about it here...

I use a KB Sock Loom....  You can use a coupon and get them from Joanns.  That's where mine came from.

It comes with directions and a DVD...  but you can also find all kinds of videos on YouTube.  It take a bit of practice to get the hand of it.  My first sock got ripped out and started over at least 5 times before it became a sock!  The one thing you want to remember is to keep you stitch lose.  If they are too tight it makes it harder to flip them over the peg.

Mostly I get asked about turning the heel and toe...

Hope this answered some of the questions.
