TaDone

Done... my Shadow Box quilt. I love it. I only wish I made it bigger to fit my bed!

No pattern... I drafted it myself.
Quilting... Interlicking Square at Urban Elementz
Thread... Perma Core on top with Bottom Line in the bobbin.
Batting... Warm Plush

I enjoy using my scraps on the back... I think it makes it more interesting!

I'm really loving this texture!

TaDone

And it is done... this sampler quilt was pieced by one of my long time customers. She let's me do what ever I want... LOL!

I decided to do my leafy feather wreath in the log cabin blocks... the solid white that looks like sashing is actually the last light round of the log cabins. I didn't want the bright varigated thread to go into the white so I offset the wreaths thinking the white could be used to frame the sampler blocks. I really like that my vision came true for this quilt.

I used P2P with my Quilt Gallery to quilt the sampler blocks with freehand in the background.

This is the only block that I did not use my robotics on....

Thread... King Tut varigated, Glide 60wt in the white and Bottom Line in the bobbin.
Batting is W&N

On and Off The Machine

On and off my machine yesterday... cute little baby quilt by one of my customers. This one done with a little bit of everything... I call it Fancy Meander. I start with a big dog hone meander then decorate it.

Ten or so years ago there were several books out on this technique. One by Megan Best and two by Suzanne Early. I don't know if any of them are still available or not... This is my spin on this technique.

Batting... Hobbs 80/20
Thread... Omni with Bottom Line in the bobbin

Batting... Hobbs 89/20

I tried to get a video, but even trying to slow down I quilt this design fast! Which caused a lot of camera shake. Truly I tried to go slow, but I can't! LOL Needless to say the video is blurry.

Monsters, Rockets, Whale Quilt

One of the ladies (and good friend) in my applique group was requested to make a quilt for her husband that had monsters, rockets and a whale...  LOL! Crazy combination! This is what she came up with...

Quilting is all freehand with Perma Core thread on top with Bottom Line in the bobbin.  She supplied the batting... not sure what it is.

This quilt did have some fullness issues... The use of "refrigerator coils" (back and forth lines) in the yellow border laid it down flat with no puckers!

To get the outer space to lay down I did what I call swoops and swirls.... my version of mctavishing. Plus I used Monopoly to quilt the moons craters.

My customer and her husband also snowboard... so we have a furry monster snowboarding on Mt Rainer...  LOL!!!

She picked it up yesterday... her husband loves it! LOL

Finding My Mojo

I have felt like I've lost my custom mojo for quite some time now...

I came to a wall that had me second guessing everything I do. It stopped me totally in my tracks and I hated it. I finally had to tell myself to just do what I do and not over think it!

I feel really out of practice doing custom work...

The 1st row is always the hardest... now that I have a plan the rest should go more quickly.

So far I'm really happy with how this is coming along...

I"m doing all the block motifs just a little bit different in each one...

Cowboy Reunion

A very good friend of mine made this quilt from a panel to donate to the auction at the Cowboy Reunion that is held at the National Rodeo Finals every year in Las Vegas. The proceeds from this event go to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. I had the honor of quilting this quilt for her...

The sign going into the Cowboy Reunion....Where the quilt went for over $750 in the auction!

Tracey and the winner of the quilt...

You can see more of the quilt here...

TaDone

This quilt is done...

I tried not to do much quilting on the center panel.  Mostly outlining the picture and followed the shadows.

My favorite curly vine border design in the outer border. In the inner border I mimicked the designs I quilted in the piecing.

I'm really  pleased with how it turned out.

Ta Done!!!

I'm so happy with how this customer quilt came out! Now I want to make one! LOL!!! Or keep this one!

Glide 60wt thread on top. Bottom Line in bobbin. Quilter's Dream poly select batting. Freehand feather vines and a little ruler work.

I did a couple videos while quilting this... bet editing will have to wait until Monday. I'll post them as soon as they are ready.
