Almost done...

I'm almost done with the Crazy Quilt...  I really, really like the way the border corner turned out!

I feel like I've used a roll of tape on the tape roller thingy trying to get all the lint of the velvet.

Doing a few motifs in the patches...

I've been asked about the thread catchers and if there is a pattern.  I found them on Pinterst...  and followed the pin to NEEDLING THINGS where I found the tutorial on how to make them.  She says to use a 9 1/2" triangle, which I did for this one.

I thought it was a little small, specially for my big hands!  So the last 2 I started with a 12" triangle.  I like this size better :-)

Yesterday's Quilting

I'm working on a Crazy Quilt for a customer.  I believe the blocks were made by a family member in years past...

She sashed the blocks with black velvet...

Stitching in the ditch around all the patches with Superior MonoPoly.

I'm doing a feather design in the border and sashing...

Every piece of lint clings to the velvet!!!

I also made a couple more thread catchers...  This time I started with a 12" triangle instead of a 9 1/2".  Like this size much better! :-)

Now I need to find some buttons to sew on these...

Today's the last day....

Today is the last day to enter to win my little give away....  You have to go to this post to do so.  The prize is a hand made thread catcher that I showed my last post....

I had a comment saying that went they clicked on the link it took them to a post about customer quilts and not the thread catcher...  That is correct.  There is no mention of the thread catcher in that post.  Just the give away.  You have to read the whole post to find out how to enter.  At the time I posted the give away I hadn't decided what the gift would be....  therefore, just how to enter :-)

I hope this clears up any confusion....

I know I do have the tendency to only look at pictures posted on blogs and not read the words, so I understand how the confusion can happen.  I've really made an effort not to this anymore.  I make myself wait until I have time to read the post before I even visit any of the blogs I follow.  If I don't read the post I'm only getting half the story, and that's kinda like standing in the rain without a hat :-(

So...  no pictures today!  Here's hoping that everyone is having a fabulous weekend :-)

And sometimes you have to take time to play...

I have zippers on my leaders for the backing fabric...  love my zippers.  There are all kinds of ways to attach your backing to your leaders and new gadgets coming out all the time.  What I like about my zippers is if I'm working on a customer quilt and get the notion to play...  I can just zip one off and zip my play sandwich on!

That's what I've done...  I'm working on a large customer quilt with lots of custom quilting when I got a new idea in my head that I had to try right away.  So I zipped her off and zipped my on...

That border is just a little over 2"....  and this next one is even smaller!

I love doing little tiny feathers...  and when using metallic thread you have to lay a lot down cause it's so pretty!

Looks like I could of centered that arc a little better...

Now back to my customer quilt!

Don't forget to leave a comment on this post to enter my giveaway.....

Mr Will

To answer Meg's question...  Mr Will is an Australian Terrier.  He's the third one that we've been people to...

Australian Terriers were bread to hunt vermin....  Which Mr Will is very good at :-)  So far this spring he has gotten several mice and a Mountain Beaver.  Mountain Beavers are not related to Beavers and they are not a mole...

Anyway....  To enter the give away that I got going you need to see my previous post

2 Quilts 1 Backing....

Looks like I've been missing in action again...  Sorry about that!  Sometimes life gets in the way of quilting.  Can't say it's been anything exciting that's kept me away.  Just day to day stuff .

Over the last weekend I did 2 quilts for a customer....  I believe they are for twins, but not positive.  My customer brought them to me at the quilt shop while I was working so I didn't really look at the backing until I got ready to do them.

Well, the back is an extra wide one (very pretty green!), which hadn't been cut for each quilt top.  That put me to thinking (I know....  that can be dangerous).  What if I load the back and do both quilts one right after another????  So that's what I did.

I did cut the batting into 2 separate pieces....  It was the best way to keep from wasting any and the most economical.

My customer chose a simple loops and heart meander...  with white thread.

Quilt number one has the birds...  I love these birds!

The second quilt has flowers...  bright cherry flowers!

Now for the fun part....   In one of the above pix my little helper, aka Mr Will, is playing peek-a-boo.  I'm not tell which one.  Once you find the pic leave a comment to enter into a give away of a handmade by me gift.  (I've decided it's time for me to do a give away!)   To enter you must leave a comment before Monday June 18th, when I will announce the winner...

If you add a link to this post on your blog or website you can leave a second comment letting me know that you did so...  this will give you a second chance to win!

OH....  and no fair cheating by reading the comments already left!  LOL
