Pumpkin Seed part 2

I've been playing with my video editing program.... LOL It kinda makes me laugh at myself or with myself. One or the other. I always say "I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing with you, you just forgot to laugh!"

Anyway, here it is... More pumpkin seed quilting, but no talking! LOL I think I like the ones where I don't say anything best. I get tired of hearing myself while doing the edits...

Pumpkin Seed Quilting

I'm never really sure what to call it. Some call it 'pumpkin seed'... And I found reference to this pattern in Quilting with Style by Gwen Marston & Joe Cunningham as 'tea cup' or 'wine glass'. If there is another common name... please leave a comment and let me know.

I used this pattern in one of the large border in the Butterfly Kisses quilt. Here's a video on how I marked my grid and quilted this border....

I just realized that last 2 minutes of my video were cut off... and it has been deleted from my computer and camera... grrr I guess I'm still learning the editing portion of making videos! That teaches me to clean up my files before I watch the whole video through, which I should of done before I uploaded it to youtube... After editing and watching it back and forth more than several times... I got tired of hearing myself!

Here's a pic of the completed pumpkin seed border....

In my last post... the tools I used to quilt the feather motif are: Clover Chaco Liner for marking, Renae's 23" arc, and a 2 1/2" circle from Gadget Girls...

How to....

While quilting the Butterfly Kisses quilt I tried my hand at making a few how to videos.  My space is quite small for me, my machine and a video camera set up on a tripod... so some of the shots aren't the best.  I get my arm, hand and handle bar blocking what I'm doing in the first couple vidoes.  Then my skill at editing is still develping... it could be that it's taking me a little time to figure out the editing software.  Now the big challenge is to get the videos in my blog post....

Migraines and work... don't leave a lot of time to quilt!

It looks like I've been missing in action for a while...  Between my spring MIGRAINES and that thing called work... I haven't had time to do much else.  I usually can control the migraines with my diet, but that's just not working this year.  I don't eat cheese, chocolate or drink red wine.  I avoid MSG and soy products...  I've had my head scanned... they didn't find much in there!  Anyway, I'm hoping I'm over them for awhile!
I did get the Butterfly Kisses quilt done :-)  I hope you are ready for lots of pix....

A closer look at the center...

And a couple blocks...

And a few of the back...

On the top I used 4 different Superior King Tut threads and 3 different Bottom Line threads on the back.  I'm not sure if I like the top or the back the best...mmmm BOTH!!!  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did quilting it.

New Tool

I just had to have this new tool... new to me anyway.  It's Deloa Jone's 12" Boomerang.  It designed for quilting curved cross hatching.  What I really like about it, is the curve of the arc is the same on both sides... meaning you can use either side and get the same curve!  Love it!!!  It also has 1/4" markings for easy placement.  Deloa has a free instructional video on her website...  check it out!

I used my boonerang today for the curved cross hatching that I am doing on my customer's quilt, Butterfly Kisses.

Another sneak peek at more of the quilting...

I'm having a lot of fun with this quilt!!!
